If you are like most of us here at Kessler Alair Insurance you work hard to play hard. For many of us filling our weekends with fun family activities is first priority when we clock out on Friday evening. Spring has sprung! Having our offices located in Newport Beach, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland California gives us a wide variety of events to choose from. Of course one of the best things about Southern California is the fact that you can go snowboarding in the morning and sit on the beach to watch the sunset all in the same day.

Whether you are in the Inland Empire or in Orange County and you are looking for a great thing to do this month here are a few ideas:

What to do in the Inland Empire?

April 1 – 31 – Inland Empire Landscape Contest – Entries will be accepted from April 1, 2016 through May 31, 2016. Show the region that using less water can be beautiful! Grand prize $1,000.00. Brought to you by your Inland Empire family of water agencies. April 19 – State of the City. Presented by Mayor Ray Musser with the City Manager and Executive Team. Tuesday, April 19 at 11:30 am at the Upland Brethren in Christ Church, Fellowship Hall, 845 W. Arrow Highway. We are collecting canned goods for local food pantries. Please support this effort by bringing a canned good to the event. April 23 – Claremont Earth Day Celebration, 2nd Street near Indian Blvd, sponsored by the City of Claremont, Sustainable Claremont, and the interfaith Sustainability Council will be held from 10 am – 3 pm in the Claremont Village. The event brings over 4,000 people of all ages and demographics, from both Claremont and surrounding communities, to see over 85 exhibitor/vendor booths with live entertainment, workshops, art displays, school exhibits, and much more. The goal of the Earth Day celebration is to: increase community awareness of environmental issues; showcase eco-friendly products, services, and organizations; provide hands-on learning opportunities; and bring the entire community together for a fun and meaningful celebration. April 29-May 1st – Upland Lemon Festival-- When life gives you lemons, pucker up and head out to the Upland Lemon Festival in downtown Upland, where everything lemony is celebrated – from food to contests to entertainment. Celebrate the city’s citrus history with lemon pie-eating contests, a crate label exhibit and Lemon Idol (that’s right, it’s a lemony take on the popular singing competition), and enjoy new attractions and tribute bands. April 30th, Spring Into Reducing, Reusing & Recycling. From 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Magnolia Park, 651 W. 15th Street in Upland. This FREE family event will bring the resources together to assist in your spring cleaning and conservation goals. April 22-May 8 – Superman, The Musical – The Grove Theatre in Upland will present a production of the Broadway Musical, "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman". Family entertainment at its finest!!!! This is the tale of Superman's efforts to defeat a vengeful scientist, Dr. Abner Sedgwick, who seeks to destroy the world's symbol of good. Recently brought back for a revival in NYC by ENCORES, this "superhero hit" recreates all of the sound and fun of the 1960's. Written by the same composers of Bye Bye Birdie, the show is for young and old alike. Mary Vagle Nature Center. 11501 Cypress Ave., Fontana, CA. It's so fun to have a family day out in nature! There is so much to explore for active families. You can enjoy a lovely walk along the nature trail which winds around the pond. Kids can have a great time spotting the local wildlife, or seeing if they can find the native plants currently in bloom. Or, for that extra learning experience, you can venture into the center itself and discover all the exhibits of the local animals, plants, geology and history. April 9 – Compost Giveaway. From 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Location: OASIS Senior Center Auxiliary Parking Lot, 801 Narcissus Ave., Corona del Mar. April 1 – 30 - $16 Cruise Rate Gray Whale Migration The gray whale makes the most spectacular and longest mass migration of any marine mammal. Tens of thousands of gray whales migrate annually along the Newport Beach Coastline from the summer feeding grounds in the Bering Sea to the winter grounds of the Baja California lagoons. Environmental Nature Center - 1601 E. 16th St., Newport Beach. Founded in 1972, the Nature Center is known to thousands of visiting students through the years as the "ENC". It is a fascinating combination of 15 California native plant communities, wildlife habitats, walking trails, Free museum and children's play/learning center. It's a sanctuary from life's pressures and a place of learning. It is visited by thousands annually. Every Saturday and Sunday morning beginning September 5 and continues year round. One of the best ways to appreciate Upper Newport Bay is to get out on the water, experience the tranquility and see pelicans, terns and egrets flying by you. Kayaking is fun and easy. The Newport Bay Conservancy offers a 2-hour guided kayak tour of the Back Bay in the heart of Newport Beach. This is great for novice and the experienced. They will make several stops on the way. Sunset Cruise - Newport Beach, Every night. Choose from 1 of 2 cruises. The Fiesta Newport Beach Cruise includes live Latin Music, complimentary chips and salsa and an unlimited drink special of $15. The Newport Beach Sunset Cruise will also include the beautiful sunsets of Newport Beach. Each cruise is 1 1/2 hours. You will tour Newport Bay as well as the famous Newport Beach coastline.
